It rained this morning
I made a cup of tea, the mood called for it
I stood on the balcony and looked upon the world
Like a god surveying the ruins of another idea
Then I burnt my fingers on the cup
And was knocked off the pedestal
Into humanity
This is life.
You feel the universe bends to your will
And you'll look at it from outside
Safe and secure
But it will pour all over you
Scalding hot and you're reminded
You've been drowning in it's rapids
From the second you breathed it's air.
The tea has spilled, my dear
Drink well, the mood is waiting to be set
Morning rain is the only respite you get.
