"Hello?" I said quietly as not to alert anything bad that may be lurking in the foggy forest I was walking in.

I heard some rustling behind me as I saw, in my peripheral, a dark figure speed past me from behind. I quickly spun around on my heels, my heart pounding, my breath caught in my throat.

I didn't make a sound as I listened for what might be following me. I saw the dark figure in my peripheral once again. I spun around quickly, hoping to make contact with it.

"Who's there?!" I yelled, my voice echoing through the void of darkness ahead of me. It was then that I came to the realization that it was just me and this… thing. Alone in this foggy, quiet- too quiet- forest.

Whatever this thing was, it seemed to be some sort of predator and I was it's- "prey…" I whispered to myself. Both shock and fear was written across my face, my stance becoming rigid and tense as the dark figure came into the light.

He wore nothing but black pants and a black hood, which hid his face because of the shadow that had been cast across it.

"Who are you?" I asked, breathing heavily as he walked closer, I began backing up slowly to increase the distance between us, "Answer me, wh-who are you?" I asked again shakily.

I jumped as I backed into a mis-placed wall. "What the-" I cut myself off because I had run out of time to think of such trivial things. "P-please whoever y-you are," I was trembling, holding my hands out in front of me. "Y-you don't have to do this." Tears welled up in my eyes.

The man just kept getting closer and closer, until I could feel his breath on my face. His breath was like ice. He grabbed my wrist, and the coldness of his touch felt like ten-thousand tiny needles stabbing my skin. His skin was so pale and cold. It was like he was dead, but alive-

"Who are-"

"Wake up." He cut me off suddenly.

"What-"

He grabbed me by the neck, the stabbing pain of his cold hands was all I could feel. The pain of it intensifying as he squeezed tighter.

"Wake. Up." He said through gritted teeth. "Get out of here."

"I-" Was all I could choke out in response.

Suddenly I woke up to my little sister Evelyn shaking me awake, tears streaming down her face. "EVIE STOP IT! YOU'RE CHOKING YOURSELF!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

My sister and I are only a year apart. She's had to witness this for 10 years now. She doesn't know what goes on in these dreams, she kept asking me for years but she gave up a couple years ago. I'd always tell her that it didn't concern her. The last thing I want is for her to start having these dreams.

"Evelyn I'm so sorry you had to see that." I pulled her into a tight hug.

"I thought you were going to choke to death. You were turning purple Evie." She whispered.

All of a sudden our dad burst into the room, a terrified expression on his face when he saw the marks I had left on my neck.

"Evie are you alright?" He got down on his knees to check my neck.

I removed his hands from my neck. "I'm fine. Just another bad dream." I looked down at my hands, then back at Dad and Evelyn.

"But it doesn't concern you. I don't want to somehow pass this on to you guys. It's the last thing I'd wish upon someone." I gave them a weak smile as I stood up to use the bathroom and clean up.

I looked in the mirror after cleaning up, I turned my head from left to right to look at my neck. I ran my fingers over the red swollen claw marks, hissing at the stinging pain. It was like someone had lit my skin on fire then clawed it and placed salt in the wounds.

I rested my hand on the counter, and looked at my tired face in the mirror.

"Who are you? And what do you want from me..."

A/N - That's all for now! Sorry for the short chapter. (PS, when you see the name "Evie" it is pronounced Eh-Vee and is Evangeline's nickname.)
