Void

Growing up as an orphan in the town of Valry, Jason had to scrape and fight his way to a better life. As a boy, he survived by stealing bread from the market or begging people for food. The day was cold in the streets, the night colder still. Many times, Jason went to sleep never knowing if he would awake the next day.

'There is beauty in the void.'

Eventually, Jason found work at the local blacksmith. He worked hard over the years to learn to master the trade. When the old smith passed in his sleep, Jason took his place as the local blacksmith. Things started to look up for Jason and that's when the voices got louder.

'There is beauty in the void.'

Jason begun to hear this voice constantly. It was everywhere he went, tormenting him. He started losing focus at his work, his metal often cracking. His health deteriorated as he stopped eating or sleeping. Nothing would make the voice go away.

'There is beauty in the void.'

He started walking around the village, looking for ways to stop the voice. He sought out the healers and shamans, but no one could figure out his problem. As the weeks became months, Jason became a shell of himself.

'There is beauty in the void.'

As he laid on his deathbed, the voice in his header echoing away, Jason finally understood the voice. He closed his eyes one last time and drifted into the void. And it was beautiful.
