My Writing Pledge
For Fanfiction & Fictionpress
The 13th Article of Faith by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints states that we are to seek out 'anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy…' and that is also the type of writing I hope to create. In the past, I messed up. From now on, I want to write whatever will increase spirituality in myself and others as well as bring joy to all. I want to uphold the standards I hold onto as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In order to do this, I will use my knowledge of right and wrong and spiritual discernment to determine what I should or should not write. Other writers who may also be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are free to use their own discernment and what I choose to write or not write about does not reflect every member nor every Christian writer. With this in mind, I understand that there may be disagreements and ill feelings regarding the beliefs I have. This applies to what I consider appropriate vs inappropriate to write. My intention is not to point fingers at others, and I hope we can agree to disagree if I write differently.
My goal is to avoid the appearance of evil, especially any form of pornography (often referred as 'a Lemon'; 'Not Safe For Work' on the internet). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints defines pornography as 'any depiction, in pictures or writing, that is intended to inappropriately arouse sexual feelings.' In other words, pornography doesn't only mean writing about characters without clothing. It can also mean sexual innuendos, immodesty, etc. Writers may have different opinions as to what pornography is, however, I go by the definition I quoted. If you have any specific questions about what I'm willing to write, please message me privately. If you feel like I have gone past the line in the sand, please call me out! I'm not perfect and I will make mistakes because I'm human. Why am I choosing these standards? I want my writing to be a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I want to be a good influence on others. I want to bring positivity wherever I go. I, Jessica L. M. Nielsen, pledge to only do good with the writing skills gifted to me by my Heavenly Father. Thank you for reading!
Sincerely, YLFanatic94/ChildAtHeart94
