Historiography of Brandy with sprinkles of Mike thrown in
Reminiscing about college, the stinky gulch in the quad and the
fraternity pledges, punch drunk and running, took all of his finals
on the same day, and later, wasted on free bandy, his face
descriptive grimace, those younger days, I said, the
drink of gentlemen and you agreed via chuckle and crinkle
eye smile;
we are in a pub, reliving the day, window seat, observing
golf courses and the greenish light from the tinted windows,
reminiscing about your mother and the vapid heat of Scottsdale,
119 degrees and your nightly walk, sweating balls, the disgust
of keeping the drapes closed all day to keep the heat out, and
the agreement that the weather of the pacific northwest is ideal,
biography is a complicated dance, the kids volleyball game
looming against the backdrop of the weekend, the nail polish
that I gave your wife, and the rumor that we were sleeping
together; the drink and the appetizer go by quickly,
and we part, in the parking lot, asked you'll call me on Monday?
and you agreed.
