The Bluebell
Whiles roaming throu a glade one day,
I happened to behold
A sweet and tremulous bluebell,
No blossom big or bold.
Why then did I pluck the bloom
And pass it on to you?
Why then was I overcome
With tender feelings true?
That wee bloom had evoked
Those magic twilight hours,
When bluebells call the fairy folk
To dance among the flowers.
If fairy folk may have such fun,
Then why not you and me?
That shameful thought flew throu my brain,
Tho I knew it could never be.
Your eyes so blue, your heart as true,
Arrested my desires.
My fire doused, I knew myself,
As cool as your stern sapphires.
In that place my soul soared free,
Flesh yielding to your power.
Since then, I will forever be
Safe in your heart's round-tower.
