Turns out, wishing usually leads to failure.

As they ecstatically made their way to the escape, Reyna suddenly heard the sound of heavy padded boots approaching them. She and Dez looked at each other, and Dez said, "Guess new beginnings aren't that easy." She was just about to turn around and tell him to run, when he grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the noise, she closed her eyes because she knew they were caught now.

When she opened her eyes, they were standing in a small corridor beside the main one. She stood behind a boulder that was definitely blocking their view of her. But Desmond was not covered by it.

She looked across the hallway and saw another pillar opposite hers. She silently gestured him to move. He nodded understandingly and rushed to the other side soundlessly. A minute later they heard the marching security move past their corridor. She had just let her shoulders relax when the footsteps stopped.

She lifted her head just enough to see Desmond gesturing to stay quiet. From the terrorised look on his face, she knew they had turned around and were listening. She realised she'd been holding her breath for a while, and it dawned on her.

She needed to breathe. She carefully took a small breath in. That was enough for the listening security.

They turned around and made their way to the small corridor. She mouthed the word sorry to Dez. Just one look on his face told her that they were done for.

Surprisingly, it took the security a few seconds to get there. A thick, smooth voice spoke from a mouthpiece, "Throw any belongings you have on the ground."

Reyna mouthed how many to Dez.

The voice continued, "Put your hands where I can see them and slowly step out." Dez gestured a six with his fingers.

She gave a small jerk of the head to say we could take them on.

Dez smirked and looked at her as if asking her to stay there until he said so.

He silently kept his duffel as near to the wall and the boulder as he could, raised his arms and stepped out. He gave no regard to her just standing there or even made any sign that someone was there to the policemen. Reyna figured he was giving her time to figure out an escape. Too bad all her mind was on thinking about him going with the police. She wracked her brain to come up with any plan just to not let Dez go to jail because of her.

That's when she realised what he was actually trying to do. He was going to attack them, and she had to run with the duffels.

Not happening.

She rummaged through her bag to find something useful. Well, let's just say, being broke did not help with that. Then something extraordinary happened. She stepped out, duffel and all. Everyone's eyes drew to her. Desmond glared at her with newfound anger. She said in a breathless voice, "Hi!" and all hell unleashed.

She knocked out the guy in front of her in the stomach with a shove of a duffel bag, and as it turns out, cash is a great weapon. She took on the next guard and glanced sideways towards Dez.

He'd just got punched by the guy holding him with a gun, and his eyebrow was bleeding. He pushed his guard away to the other one, and they both collapsed with a large thumping sound. Two more were still left. Reyna took a breath in and kicked the other guy straight in the abdomen as he fell to the ground.

Dez said, "You have a thing for hitting stomachs, Rey." She glanced at him and exclaimed, "Behind you!" He turned around just in time and brought the other guard to the ground by hitting him straight in the face, but not before there was a slash on his own cheek from the guard's punch.

Reyna, as she set her eyes on the last standing guy, said, "And you have a thing for getting hit in the face, Dez." He mouthed ouch and they together made their way to the guard. Taking him down was easy enough, just a kick to the leg did it. Dez limp-ran to his duffel and brought it back.

Then they both ran for their lives, away from the godly mess they had made, for good.
