This poem is the first one that I've really written in a long time and it's definitely the most emotional one that I've written. It's partly based on the character Laura from 'The Glass Menagerie' but mainly it describes my feelings when I was suffering from depression and panic attacks. Please tell me what you think . . .

Fragility

By Edana

Fragility, a girl of glass

Whose body, silver spun, once danced

Not gracefully, but full of life

And she was blessed.

With stormy eyes she watched the sky

And hidden figures glowed as bright.

They saw her never-ending dance,

And she saw them.

All different, haunting and unique

And the dance was complete.

But now her steps are out of place.

The music changed; she stayed the same,

The sacred tears that touch the soul –

The sky is lost.

She feels the ground beneath her feet,

With blind eyes turned to face the world.

All sense is lost; her arms are raised –

They drip with blood.

A broken dance and shattered glass,

She hides behind a mask.
