Author's note: Inspired by my recent readings of Japanese love poetry, this poem aims to capture a helpless addiction to a destructive love. This work belongs to me, so please ask permission before whisking it off to another website.

By Sarie

You flee without remorse

like a thief into the mist,

the crime of me

still warm on your lips.

And yet,

I linger

in a sheen of moonlight,

hungry still for

the treachery of your love.
