I grabbed the phone off the wall halfway into the fourth ring.

"Green."

"This is Green, leave a message."

I heard the person on the other end hang up as the machine picked up. Bastard.

I glanced at my watch which showed the hour to be 2am, and knew that if I didn't go to sleep soon I'd never wake up for class tomorrow. Setting the alarm for 7am, I settled into bed but left the lamp on.

My eyes began to burn from exhaustion and I knew sleep wouldn't wait long. I dared not close my eyes, fearing the terror and sickness of the familiar nightmares I knew were waiting. I held my pillow closer, rocking anxiously. I always put this moment off as long as possible. Come on Green, it's only a nightmare. I listened to the ticking of my wristwatch and wasn't comforted.
