Notes:
Well, I've been working on 'For My Maiden' for awhile now, and inspiration hit once more! Please don't think I'm crazy ^^;;;. If you wish, though I would gladly appreciate it, please leave a review in the end. I would like to know the flaws and typos in this fic. ^^ Arigatou gozaimasu! Oh yeah! This is an idea I came up with! I came to me while I was sitting in the car, watching the pretty trees and street signs go by!
Koishii… we'll find each other again…
"Ryu!"
And once we do… we'll never part…
"Haruna! Stay back!"
Fate dealt us a cruel hand…
"Ryu! No, Ryu!"
Yet… in someway… we had deserved it…
"Stay back, Haruna! You'll get hurt!"
Our love was never meant to form…
"Iie! If I leave, I might never see you again!"
But, still… we listened to our heart's forlorn throb…
"That's the point! Never see me again and you'll be safe!"
It was forbidden… yet, it was also destiny that we met…
"Ryu-kun!"
The day you had died in my arms burns painfully in my heart…
"Haru- AHHH!"
Nothing could have been done…
"RYU-KUN!"
As they had said to us so long ago…
"Ha-Haruna-chan… aishiteru…"
We listened not…
"Ryu-kun! Wake up! RYU-KUN!"
Therefore sealing our fate…
"Open your eyes, anata… Onegai… Ryu-kun…"
We'll surpass time…
"Aishiteru… wait for me…, onegai…, wait for me…"
Defy fate once more…
"Ryu-kun… I'll be with you soon… promise to meet me…?"
So that we'll be in each other's arms again…
"… Ryu…"
Maybe this time… Our love will live…

We will transcend time… And once more… We'll love each other again…
A tall figure stood atop a high tree branch, its form silhouetted by the moon's ethereal light. His features were solemn, stern, violet eyes scanning the land below. As a thick cloud concealed the luminous orb, he jumped down from his position, the face of the ground nearing him in an alarming rate. As the haze disappeared, the moon once more cast its glow upon the individual's form, who was now standing firmly on the land.
'She's surfacing…' he thought.
Turning his head to the west, he furrowed his brows, fists clenching about the leather-bound hilt of the long katana hidden underneath the black trench coat he wore. His eyes turning into a fixed glare, he leisurely made his way to the right, a pair of dark shades being slipped over his shady, amethyst orbs. His dark robe flailed as a strong breeze blew past him, the wind playing with his dark hair, a long, thin ponytail trailing behind him.
'I'll find you again…'
He strode into the night's streets, disappearing furtively around a murky corner.
"Rui-chan! Rui-chan!"
A slender, dark-haired girl paused and turned to the voice, a smile spreading on her face.
"Yuki? What is it?"
The blue-haired girl skidded to a stop in front of her friend, an urgent spark in her brown eyes.
"You have to see this! Yousuke is picking a fight with your aniki again!"
"Kami!" Rui exclaimed, quickly breaking into a run. "Aniki is going to be grounded again!"
"W-wait…!" she called out, running after the rapidly dispersing girl. "Don't you want to know where they are?!"
"Kami, Yuki! I know where they are!" she called back. "They're always at the empty car lot! Now, c'mon!"
Rounding a few corners, they slid to halt, the loud cheering and hooting of a nearby crowd floating along the air. From a distance, two forms were seen, each already exchanging a few jabs. Running towards them, both girls pushed through the throng of students that have gathered to watch the skirmish.
"Aniki!"
A tall, ebony-haired teen promptly dropped his fists, hearing the familiar voice of his sister. Seeing that he was preoccupied, his opponent threw a fast punch at his face, sending the man stumbling backwards.
"Ryu-oniisan!" Rui called, rushing to her brother's side. "Gomen nasai! I shouldn't have called out to you!"
"Ne, imoto, nan da ne…" he assured, rubbing his aching jaw.
"Get up, Hana-san!" the brown-haired boy before them barked, fists cocked. "And, Rui! I thought I told you to go back home!"
"What makes you think I'll listen to you?!"
"I'm your boyfriend, for crying out loud!" he exclaimed, nearly whining. "Of course you should listen to me!"
Both siblings simultaneously turned their dark-garnet eyes towards the boy, a similar glare prominent.
"Don't boss my sister/me around!" they both exclaimed, their voices rising to the same pitch.
Having finally pushed through the crowd, Yuki hurried to her friends, helping both up.
"You're a jerk, Yousuke! And I never did answer you! You just assumed that we were together!" the girl spat, hands on her hips.
"It's sorta the same!"
"She isn't your girlfriend!"
Rui held her brother's arm as he made a move to lunged at him. At the sight, Yousuke had to laugh.
"Aw, look here, Ryu has to be held back by his little sister!"
"Even if I didn't, he will beat you!" the dark-haired girl defended. "He isn't a wimp like you are!"
"Nani-o? Me? A wimp? I can pick a fight with anyone, anywhere, at anytime I please and I'll always win!"
To prove his point, he whirled around, scanning the multitude of students for a victim. Finding no one that would seemingly match his skill, he turned to the streets, spying a dark-clothed man. Cupping his hands about his mouth, he called out to him.
"Oi! Stranger! Can ya come here a minute?!"
The man peered towards the teen through his dark glasses, then gave a slight smirk, leisurely taking his time to walk over to him.
"I want you to fight me!" he drawled, thumping a fist over his chest. "And if you win, I'll pay ya 1500¥ !"
Shrugging, the man only nodded, standing there as stoic as he arrived.
"Aren't ya gonna get in a fighting stance?"
He shook his head, lips tugging into a barely noticeable grin. Yousuke, thinking that he has an advantage, charged towards the man, fists cocked and ready. At the last possible minute, the man disappeared, the fist scarcely hitting him.
"Huh? Where'd he go-"
To everyone's amazement, the boy slumped to the ground, the dark-clothed man stealthily landing beside him. With a snort, he straightened and walked back onto the sidewalk, barely giving the gaping audience behind him a glance.
Whispers began to form, incoherent mumbles and exclamations floating in the air. A few students neared Yousuke's limp body, prodding him in different areas.
"Guys! He's still alive! He just hit a pressure point!"
Relieved sighs echoed simultaneously from the crowd, whispers starting again. Unhindered, Rui stood and ran past Yousuke's motionless body, following the man as though she were drawn.
'Who… who was he…?'
Golden eyes flashed a brief violet in her mind's eye, the strangely familiar, yet unseen face of a man surfacing from the hazy depths. Clashes of swords and yells echoed about her, yet in reality silence reigned the air. The sensation of familiarity overwhelmed her, so much that she found her legs taking her to a vacant location.
"You followed me… why?" a deep voice rumbled from behind her, causing her to swiftly turn around.
A handsome, dark-haired stranger stood stoically before her, an exotic glow in his deep violet eyes. A dark trench coat covered the rest of his body, yet the visible chain of a golden cross was seen hanging from his neck, the leather hilt of a sword protruding from the opening of the clothe.
A play acted itself out in the dark corners of her mind, her eyes flickering into a different, and somewhat indistinct color. Before she knew what was happening, a name rolled itself from her tongue and unto her lips.
"Ryu…"
"Imoto! Rui-chan!"
Snapping back unto reality, she turned and ran to her brother's voice, quickly finding him.
"Ryu-oniisan!" she called, finally catching up to him.
"Where have you been, imoto?" he asked, genuine worry on his face. "You just suddenly ran off."
"Gomen nasai, aniki. I… a-no… just thought he seemed familiar… that's all…"
"Familiar? Daijobou, Rui-chan? You have never met him before."
"Aa… I know… It was just weird… gomen for worrying you, aniki."
"Nan da. Let's just go home before okaasan gets mad, ne?"
"Un…"
As her brother walked forwards, she glanced back slightly, finding the man gone. Turning, she ran to her brother, walking along side him, greeting him with a slight smile.
"Let's get some pocky before we head back. I have a feeling okaasan will be trying out a new recipe. Might as well fill ourselves up so we have an excuse, ne?" he joked, ruby eyes glowing with mirth.
She lightly slapped his arm, giggling as well. "You're so mean!"
"Hai, hai. Just don't blame me if we get 'Sushi Surprise' again."
She shuddered slightly at the thought of the infamous dish that caused the entire family stomach aches for weeks, fully agreeing that her brother was right.
"Alright, alright! Let's get some mochi along the way, as well."
"Sounds alright to me!"
Together they walked to the shops, laughing happily along the way. Glancing back, Rui's eyes flashed slightly, seeing the dark-haired man again. He watched her intently, their gazes never breaking. Slowly, as though he was hesitant, he gave a small smile, then walked away.
The smile seemed neither amused nor threatening, as though it were a gesture between friends, the warmth of it reaching her very core. The sense of familiarity washed over her again, the smile seemingly meant for her, a secret promise hidden behind the simple, yet meaningful act.
'Let's meet again, stranger…' she thought wistfully. 'I want to see you again…'
I'll be with you soon… promise to meet me…?
