And I’ll tell you a tale
Of how I don’t try
So I never fail.
I’ve made tons of promises
No one’s let me keep.
Here’s a list of some of them,
They’ll make you smile, then weep.
Gimme your shoe,
I’ll tie the laces.
Gimme a crowd,
I’ll put smiles on their faces.
Gimme some paper,
I’ll fill it with ink.
Gimme a sailboat,
I won’t let it sink.
Gimme a book,
I’ll read it to you.
Gimme broken hearts,
I’ll mend a few.
Gimme a chance
And I’ll prove these to you.
But just keep in mind,
These’ve never come true.
Gimme a mike,
And a song I’ll sing
Of how no one gives me a chance,
So I don’t give them anything.
AN: This is another personal one, but it’s not as personal as ‘Oblivious’ (thanks to those of you who reviewed it, by the way…you’re great). The things promised in this poem start off light-hearted but become more serious and then I just end the poem on an altogether angered note. In case you haven’t noticed, I tend to start my poems happy and end them angry/sad/confused…which is how I guess things really are for me. Anywho, keep in mind that reviews is like a drug to me and you KNOW what happens when I don’t get my fix! J/k….oh, yeah â€" sorry it’s taken so long for me to post this; I’ve been busy.
