How to be a ghost

Freddy closed his diary. He had brownish black hair and huge glasses. His school mates called him a nerd; he talked like a nerd, and even looked like a nerd. The only fact that he was interesting was that he was very obsessed with ghosts.

Haunted houses, lights going on and off, Freddy loved everything that's to do with ghosts. He even kind of wished that he were a ghost himself.

On this particular day, Freddy walked to school by himself. He was an outcast except for his friend Erin. Erin and Freddy have been best friends ever since kindergarten. She was tall and blonde-haired.

"Hey Freddy!" called Erin as he entered the classroom. " Listen, I found this place where you can." she lowered her voice dramatically. " Turn into a ghost!"

Freddy rolled his eyes in disbelief. " Yeah, right, and I'm Prince Charles."

"Really Freddy! I'll show you after school." Erin nodded convincingly.

"All right"

By now, you may think that Erin is a big nerd like Freddy is. No, she is actually much more normal- but just as crazy about ghosts. And she keeps her promises. So that's why, straight after school, Erin and Freddy set off to the dark, damp, ghostly town 8 kilometres out of Sydney. The place was strange and luring. The fog was everywhere and Freddy could barely see, but something in the place encouraged them to go on for another 2 hours.

Freddy felt as if he were in a dream. He was so tired and no wonder, he has been walking for hours and hours. Freddy had a strong urge to lie down and rest: he wanted to sleep soooo badly. The feeling of being enchanted began to take over him. Freddy's body felt WEGHTLESS now, but as weightless as it was, it was dragging him down, to the ground and increasing the sense of wanting to lie down. Freddy was enchanted now, and the charm was getting stronger. He stooped down, wanting to rest IN PEACE. The ground felt homey to him, as a voice whispered to him: Sleep, sleep, sleep.

"Freddy! Look!" Erin's voice brought him back to reality. Freddy stood up, wondering where he had been in the last twenty minutes. "Look at that!"

Freddy knew it wasn't going to be a good sight. He was right. The sight in front of them was horrible. Freddy almost fainted. An old mansion lay before them. And there, all around the mansion, were a mass of bodies.

The bodies weren't lumped together, though. They were spread out, and each had their own separate space. They looked like they were all asleep.

"Well, lets go in," said Freddy as he stepped around the bodies to enter the house. Erin was at his heels, looking as scared as a mouse. As they were stepping through the bodies, Erin felt a strange feeling come to her. . Erin had a strong urge to lie down and rest: she wanted to sleep soooo badly. The feeling of being enchanted began to take over her. Erin's body felt WEGHTLESS now, but as weightless as it was, it was dragging her down, to the ground and increasing the sense of wanting to lie down. Erin was enchanted now, and the charm was getting stronger. She stooped down, wanting to rest IN PEACE. The ground felt homey to her, as a voice whispered to her: Sleep, sleep, sleep. Erin lay down on the ground and closed her eyes. Now it was too late to save her.

"Erin? Are you okay?" Freddy's alarmed cry filled through the air. Without hesitating, he stepped over to her limp body and shook her shoulders. Nothing happened. Then, he realised it was too late to save her.

Freddy didn't know what to do. By now, he knew that this enchantment was some sort of trap to prevent people from entering the abandoned house. He was lucky to have survived the enchanting. Finally, he made up his mind to go inside to find help for Erin.

Freddy's courage grew with every step he took towards the door. When he came to the mansion, he flung oped the door and stood inside the doorway.

"Hello!" He shouted. "Anybody home?"
