Okay, this an original story, therefore all the characters are mine. It would be optimal if people kept their dirty paws off them. Well, please read and review!

An army of Nazi soldiers stormed through a small town outside of Warsaw, Poland. They had been instructed to raid any Jewish home and take them to a nearby concentration camp.

Among the soldiers was a young man, about 22 years old, who's father had signed him up without the boy's consent. He was very upset about it and didn't want to participate in anything the Nazis did. As far as he was concerned, the Jews had just as much right as any one to do as they pleased. Storming through the houses and destroying innocent peoples lives did not sit with him very well.

They soon reached a small house that seemed already unoccupied. But still, to make sure, they went inside. Turning tables upside down, ripping up the floor boards, they tried to see if any one was hiding. One soldier found a hidden door and when it was pulled back, a family was inside. A mother, a father, a baby, and a girl. When the young man saw the girl, his was instantly taken with her. She had chestnut brown hair and brown eyes to match. She was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. He noticed that she was the only one in the family who held her head high and still wore her Star of David, even as they were being taken away. He sensed a strength in her that no one else he had ever met.

Give me your Star of David, An older soldier yelled at her. The girl straightened her back and glared at him, a bright fire burning in her eyes.

She snarled. When the soldier heard this, he took the butt of his gun and knocked her to the ground. The girl's mother let out a gasp and began to sob. The soldier called the young man.

You handle her, he told him. He nodded and lifted the girl up. He examined her face as he carried her out of the house. She could be no more than fifteen years old and she had very pretty skin. He couldn't believe she had said that to that older soldier. She could have very well been killed. A small stream of blood trickled from her forehead. He wiped it away. He gently touched her face. Her eyes blinked softly to wake up.

The first thing she saw was a smiling blonde haired boy. He had bright blue eyes and was quite handsome. She almost said something until she noticed the uniform he was wearing. She screamed and started to scramble out of his arms.

Put me down! She screamed. He quickly adjusted her so she wouldn't fall.

Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you, He tried to comfort her.

Why am I supposed to believe that. Your very purpose is to hurt me and people like me, She told him angrily. He took a deep breath and tried to talk to her.

Listen, I personally have no intent on hurting you. The other men with me, they do, He explained. She calmed down slightly. She sighed and looked up at him. She examined his face closely. His face was soft and his eyes were trusting. For some reason, she completely trusted this young Nazi.

Okay, if you're not going to hurt me, my name's Karina, She nodded her head.

I'm Stefan, He smiled. She looked curiously at him.

You're from Germany? She asked. He shook his head.

Close, but I'm actually from Austria, He laughed, but then stopped when he heard his commanders voice. She felt his body freeze. She looked around frantically.

I've got to let you go. I'll see you when we get to the camp, He put her in the car with the other Jews. She took a deep breath and quickly unlatched her necklace.

Guard this with your life, Then gave him her star.

He gripped it in his hand, feeling the star's points digging into his palm. He quickly took a chain from his neck.

Guard this with your life, He slipped her his cross. She took it in her hand and looked around for her family.

Where's my family? She sounded slightly anxious. Stefan looked at her and could only shrug. Just then his officer appeared.

Put that girl on the other truck. She needs to be broken, The officer told him. He sighed, but nodded his head.

Yes sir, He said, then went to get Karina out of the other truck.

Come with me, he said to her.

What's going on? She demanded, feeling very betrayed. He motioned her to keep quiet.

Her mother saw her being taken to a different truck and began to scream.

You can't take my baby away! She's too young to be by herself. She just a child! Don't take her away! Her mother screamed hysterically.

Mamma! Pappa! I love you! Karina screamed back. Karina climbed into the other truck with Stefan's help.

Stefan couldn't bare to look at her face as she watched her family being taken away. She sounded much like a young child who was lost and in every way, she was. Tears were in her beautiful eyes and her face was tortured with pain. Stefan had seen these sad looks before, and each time, it got harder to look at. He then climbed into a place near the cab of the truck where the soldiers were to ride.
