Ahhhhh! We're getting towards the end! I've been really horrible about updating and for that I'm deeply sorry! Just here's the second to last chapter, 1 left to go. Just so you are all forewarned, at the end of the story, I would like some help revising it and stuff, so if you're interested in that process (I would like to get this published) please let me know in your review and I'll give you an email and all that. Righteo, on the the chapter!
The drive home was quiet. Karina was thinking. She felt as if she was finally getting ready to close that door to her past. However, she wasn't quite ready. She had to do a few more things.
You know what Zachery, we didn't look you up, Karina pointed out when they had gotten home.
Oh well, we were too busy looking up that SS soldier to really even think about it. It's not that big of a deal. All it will say is Served in German army between the years 1942 to 1945. Discharged due to injury to the left leg.' Not that interesting, Zachery told her. She laughed.
You said that you were in love once, tell me about her, Karina said and looked at him. He visibly winced.
Do I have to? He asked, almost whining.
Yes, you absolutly must, Karina placed a hand on his leg. He looked up at her.
Okay here we go. This girl had long dark brown hair, brown eyes and perfect skin. She was a little younger than, well probably considerably younger, but that didn't matter. She showed up at my door step, wanting to see the inside of my house, that I guess had once been her's, He started and Karina couldn't help but laugh. So I showed her around and she stayed for tea and dinner and then stayed the night, intrusive girl that she is. So the next day, I wake up and find her outside watching the sunrise and we talked a little. Then she made me walk all the way to Warsaw, with one leg! I don't know why I love her, By this time, they both were nearly on the floor, attacked by laughter.
You liar! She punched his stomach playfully. He smiled.
You're right, I was lying. The girl that I actually loved was younger than me, but what guy goes for a girl his own age. Her parents had problems with us being together, so we had to seperate. I wanted to marry her and do all that, but life doesn't always work out the way you want it to, Zachery said. Karina nodded.
I can atest to that, She told him. He nodded and then smiled at her. Karina gave him a warm smile back. He carefully reached his hand up and began to stroke her hair, she smiled and leaned her face into his hand. He leaned forward and kissed her softly on the lips.
Karina felt a flood of warmth wash through her, like a girl who had just gotten her first kiss. She smiled and then her senses returned and she pulled away.
I'm sorry, I can't, She told him. Zachery nodded.
I know, I shouldn't have done it, He said, the hurt obvious in his voice.
It's not that it wasn't pleasent, but I'm still in mourning, Karina explained. Zachery nodded knowingly.
He stood up and began to go to bed. Karina watched him go, first the crutches then his right leg and so on. An impulse made her stand up and rush in front of him. She pressed her lips to his. When she stepped back, Zachery had a surprised, but pleased look on his face. He leaned in and began to kiss her and Karina began to kiss him back. They worked their way into Zachery's bedroom and fell on the bed. They began to laugh. But their lips were back together and Zachery began to slowly run his hands up Karina's shirt and slipped it off. Karina carefully pulled off Zachery's pants. He cringed slightly.
It's not pretty, He warned her.
I have my fair share, Karina grinned and began to carefully rub what was once Zachery's left leg. A long scar ran horizontilly across it.
Karina, I love you, Zachery murmured.
I love you too, Karina said as she kissed him once more.
I can't belive this is the bed where I was concieved. It's kinda creepy, Karina said. Her head was resting on Zachery's shoulder, his fingers running through her hair.
That is weird. Kinda sexy though, Zachery kissed her forehead. Karina giggled.
She said and let out a content sigh.
Laying in his arms was like coming home. With all the years she had been with Jackie, she had never felt anything like this, it was an incredible rush. Her fingers traced the outlines of his broad chest. She leaned herself up and kissed his graying temple. She did love him. Maybe it was getting over the shock of having lost another person, but she wasn't so sure about that either. She silenced her mind and just enojoyed the warmth of Zachery's embrace.
