Authoress Note: This Story went through A LOT of changes, because I cleaned it up and stuff and turned it in for an English assignment. My teacher liked it! Yay! LOL.

Prologue

"I thought I made it clear to you that you weren't supposed to ask me when I'll get you food!" A tall man screamed as he was lighting up a cigarette.

"I'm sorry Daddy, but I'm hungry!" A small girl about five years old cried. She wore a thin dress which hung loosely on her frail little body.

"Damn you! I thought I told you not to complain! Your lucky I let you eat!" The man smacked the girl across the face. She cried out in pain.

"That's it, you little bitch!" The man picked the small girl up and threw her across the room. Her body hit the wall, which made a sickening crack. The girl was barely breathing as the man hit her small body over and over again...

"NO!" Ivy South screamed, sitting straight up in her bed. Another nightmare. Ever since she could remember, she had nightmares where she saw things. Not happy things. She saw people being abused, and little children suffering. She sometimes even

saw people being murdered. She had been seeing this little girl being hit by her father for a week now. Her dreams were like a movie. She could see the horrible scenes, but she couldn't make them stop. She just watched, and no matter how hard she tried to say something, she simply could not.

"Why does this happen to me!" She said out loud. Ivy's bedroom door creaked open and her mother came over to her bedside.

"Ivy, are you okay?" She asked, tucking her daughters strawberry blonde hair behind her ear.

"I had another nightmare. The one where the girls' father beats her." She said choking back tears.

"Ivy, I don't know what to do..." Her mother Anne said. She hugged her daughter. Anne's daughter had nightmares like these all the time. Ivy was only 6 years old, but the things she saw in her dreams were horrible. And the thing that frightened Anne the most, was that Ivy's nightmares would come true in the real world.
