Chapter 6 I sniffled lightly and smiled through watery eyes. Cary Grant sat at the foot of the couch where Debrah Kerr lay. He had just found the picture he painted of her and had realized that she was the crippled woman who it had been given to. He just knew that she couldn't be on top of the building because of this. "I was looking up, it was the closet thing to heaven, you were there," "Don't worry darling, if you can't paint I can walk again, anything is possible. . ." Emotional music filled the room as the words THE END appeared on the screen. I reached over and clicked the stop button before leaning back into the couch. I reached over the armrest to grab a Kleenex and dabbed my eyes with it. Josh just looked at me and smiled. "How many times have you seen that movie?" he asked "I don't know, a million" "And yet you still cry every time," "What can I say, I'm a sap, all that romance, it just gets to me," I smiled and stumbled through the dark room towards the kitchen. :"Wow," I said when I saw the green numbers on the clock glaring at me, "it's late." "I know, I should probably get going." He said. "Alright," I said, "want something to drink first, or eat take your pick." "No, I'm okay" he said grabbing his keys off the counter.
"I;m tired," I said yawning, "you try crying for 4 hours straight, it's a very draining experience" "I bet," he said walking toward the door. I followed him out into the warm summer night, stopping to smell the gardenias blooming by the door. I walked down the pathway toward his car and he turned to face me. "Good luck with the first day of school," he said I groaned, "thanks," "Goodnight," "Be careful driving home, and call me later ok," I said I reached up and wrapped my arms around him, standing on my tiptoes and leaning into him. His arms went around my waist and cradled me against him. I closed my eyes and relished the feeling of being in his arms, feeling so at home. He slowly let go of me, before lightly kissing my forehead. "Bye," "Bye," I said and watched him crawl into his car and drive down the street. I sighed and looked up into the sky filled with tiny stars, that glittered like diamonds. "What is wrong with me?" I whispered as I watched the taillights of his car disappear around the bend, "I think I'm falling for my best friend."
