My Dark Heart

I tried to fill my mind with books,
Music, television and friends.
But nothing could keep my mind off of you.

I attempted to fill myself with light,
And all that is good in the world.
But I found myself thinking
Only of your darkness and evil.

I thought I could overcome it;
I know I'm doing my best.
Perhaps someday I'll find you in me no more.

I think that day is coming soon,
For now I'm finally wising up.
