Ok, what the hell did he mean that I was already playing? I wasn't.. surely I mean I hadn't even agreed to play.

I frowned, It was all so confusing.. I didn't know what to make of what he had said.. How could I be playing already? I hadn't done anything.. I didn't know what type of game it was, I hadn't had any clues or anything..

"It's a mystery" I muttered to myself. I walked slowly over to the bed and peered down at the game on it's cover.

Could I trust him? Was he telling me the truth when he told me that the game was harmless?

I tentatively reached down and fingered the surface of the wooden box.

I gasped as I felt the earth shift, and the room seemed to spin..

"Demon boy is such a liar!" I muttered to myself, as I rubbed my eyes and climbed back to my feet from where I had been thrown off them.

I grimaced and looked around, Although it was the middle of the day, the sky outside my window was a violent red..

"How queer" I observed, and gasped as I heard a soft chuckle from behind me.

"You decided to play" he stated, seemingly pleased,

I frowned..

"Well, it's not like I had a choice now is it?" I demanded harshly, but he merely laughed.

"Not true Aura, technically you agreed to play the game when you first entered the house, you touching the box was merely confirming the fact that your team had decided to play and no longer had the option not to" He explained, a wicked grin on his face..

I stiffened.. My team? Was he telling me that there was more than one person who would be playing the game?

But that didn't make sense.. Ben and Mrs Perkin were already here when I arrived and the only other person that had come to the house was.

The thought trailed off and I felt my heart sink.

"Yes.. you're not alone.." He told me, and I frowned once more..

"What the hell does he have to do with, It's me you want, why get him involved?" I pressed him, desperate for him to let Jeremy go.

"Language little one" he chastised, and I glared..

"Fuck you" I swore at him, but he merely smirked..

"All in good time Aura" he replied silkily, and I felt a tremor run through me..

I didn't want to.. ugh, But something within me responded to him, I realized that it was my darkness that was drawn to him..

The evil that everyone had inside them, the tiny part of me that I had thought I had conquered rose up to meet him eagerly, like a moth to the flame.

"Don't fight it" he whispered, running a porcelain hand down my cheek. I looked away, I would fight it! I needed to fight it, If not for mine, then for Jeremy's sake.. He was here somewhere, in this huge house, and I had no idea what this creature had done to him.

"Where's Jeremy?" I questioned, not daring to meet his eyes, lest I lose control and throw myself upon him.

"Discovering the joys of the game little one.. do not trouble yourself with him, he will most probably be dead before tomorrow" he spoke confidently, and I closed my eyes, what the hell was I going to do? How was I going to get Jeremy out ok, as well as myself and defeat the curse? I wondered..

I knew that asking him for help was futile.

"Not at all" he replied.. and I knew that he had dipped into my thoughts..

"You may call for my help at any time" he continued.. and I felt my gut twist, The way he said it, the tone of his voice told me it wasn't that simple, and I knew somehow that should I call for his help, there would be consequences, the game would probably be forfeit.. I thought wearily.

"What happens if I win?" I asked suddenly, and he smiled..

"You and that insolent boy get to leave unscathed" he answered, and I gulped..

"And if you win? And I fail?" I asked, not sure that I really wanted to know the answer.

"Then you're mine, and I get to decide what to do with you" he replied with relish, and I knew that he hoped I would fail, that I wouldn't see out the game till the end.

"What must I do?" I asked, knowing that I needed to get as much information out of him as I could, while he was inclined to stay and talk.

"It's simple really" he told me, in a tone that told me it was anything but.

"You have forty-eight hours to find lover boy, face the things that you fear most, and find your way out.. nothing as it seems Aura, you have been warned" He explained.. and then there was a swirl of black material, and he was gone once more.

I sighed, and glanced at my wrist, where I felt something heavy. I looked at my arm and saw to my surprise that a watch had appeared there, and now it was set to 48:00:00 I figured that it was counting down the hours until I had to have found Jeremy and gotten safely out..

I wondered if Mrs Perkin was around, surely she would know where I should start.

I walked down the hall, and noticed that the watch had begun counting down as soon as I had left my room.

I headed for the staircase that would lead me to the bottom floor, and subsequently Mrs Perkin.

I stood at the top of the steps, but when I made to walk down them, I was thrown backwards with breakneck force.

"Ow!" I exclaimed furiously.

"Sorry, forgot to mention that first floor is out of bounds" his voice spoke through the thin air, and I glared at the space in front of me, not sure where he was,

"But the door's on the first floor!" I told him angrily, but he merely chuckled..

"That's why it's out of bounds, not to mention that that door isn't the way out" he explained.. and then the air fell silent and I knew he had gone..

I groaned.. why did I have to get the cryptic demon? I wondered vaguely, as I set off down another hallway, and came to a stop at the first door.

"Ok Aura, This shouldn't be too hard, find Jeremy, then get out you can do this!" I psyched myself up, and threw open the door.

What I saw on the other side almost made me faint with shock. .
