A shiny ballroom,
A waltzing tune,
A dream come true,
Or so he whispered to you.
The frightening masks,
The jilting laughter,
All products of this dream,
Hinting at the truth others say so clearly seen.
Those eyes holding mysteries so deep,
Promised her soul he would keep,
But her heart knew the lies of that one,
And with a sigh she did what had to be done.
She shattered the illusion,
She broke the fragile glass,
She gave up her dreams,
Or so it seemed for this brave lass.
She gladly did it all,
Without a second glance,
Ignoring his deceitful eyes pleading
'Please, just one last dance...'
