October 25, 2002~11:35 P.M.~Friday
I'm laying in a hospital bed in pain. Yeah, a hospital bed. The only reason I have you, Diary, is because I begged Ryan to drive to my house to get it so I could write something.
My dad finally did it though. He landed me in the hospital.
~I walked into the house after school humming and smiling, and was greeted by a slap in the face.
I reeled back and when I turned back around, my dad threw a piece of paper at me.
"What the hell is this?" he shouted.
I picked up the piece of paper and opened it up. It was a note Melissa had written to me talking about my pregnancy.
My whole body shook. "I-I…um-"
I got cut off when he slapped me again. Harder this time. I fell to the ground, and I could feel the stinging in my cheeks.
"I knew you were a little slut," he spat. He lifted me up by my hair and threw me down again.
Tears had begun to stream down my cheeks.
He growled at me. "Don't even cry, you little whore."
He kicked my ribs and I felt a sharp pain ripple through my body. He kicked me again and I started to see spots. He leaned over my body and hit me one more time before everything around me faded to black.
When I woke up again, I was laying in a hospital bed with Ryan sitting next to me holding my hand.
"Ryan?" I asked weakly.
He opened his eyes and I could see the tears swimming in them. "Lily."
"What happened? H-how did I get here?"
"There were no cars in the driveway when I showed up at your house, so I figured it was okay to knock. When no one answered, I tried the door, and found you lying on the ground."
Tears stung at my eyes, and then I panicked. "M-my baby."
He brushed a strand of hair out of my face. "Our baby is surprisingly okay. Your dad didn't harm it at all."
I let out a sigh of relief.
My grandma ran into the room, and I could see tear stains on her cheeks.
"Lily, Baby, why didn't you ever tell me? I could have helped. I could have gotten you out of there."
I started to cry and my grandma hugged me. "I'm sorry, Grandma."
She kissed the top of my head. "Don't be, baby. Now, um…you don't have to live with your parents anymore."
My eyes lit up.
"I was going to move you in with me, but I'm not anymore."
"Well, where am I going to live?"
"Mrs. James has offered to, well…she wants to adopt you when she's able to."
My mouth dropped open just as Melissa and her mom walked into the room.
"Thank you so much, Mrs. James." Tears stung at my eyes and I tried to force myself not to start crying again.
Mrs. James gave me a hug. "It's not a problem, sweetie. Melissa and I are more than happy to have you."
Melissa smiled at me. "Rob wanted to come, but he's stuck at his aunt's birthday dinner."
I shrugged. "It's okay." I looked around the room at the people that loved me, and smiled. ~
Finally, I'm getting out of my parents' house. I never thought that would happen. And I'm moving in with Melissa and her mom. Life will be so much better now.
