Chapter 1- It can't be

Paige Bryson paced around her bathroom awaiting the results of the test. This test would determine whether she would be a mother or not. Silent tears streamed down her face as she sat on the floor, her head in her hands. After a minute, she peered at the test once again. Blue-she was pregnant.

'This was not meant to happen.' She thought to herself as she fell to the ground once again. Her mind was clouded with thoughts. About her, about the baby. What would her boyfriend say? And her parents- what would they do? She couldn't think anymore. Paige stuffed the pregnancy test back into her school bag and stormed out of the bathroom.

"Paige what's wrong?" Her father asked her as she ran by him in a fit of tears.

"Just leave me alone!" She said to him. 'You'll find out sooner or later dad.' She thought to herself and dreaded the day that she had to tell her parents about her misfortune.

Paige bursted through her bedroom door and slammed it behind her, locking it shut. She threw herself on her bed and buried her head into her pillow. Shutting her eyes tight, she tried to block out the screams of her parents, pleading for her to let them in.

Eventually, the screaming stopped and her parent's gave up for the night. Paige turned on her side and stared at the picture on her nightstand. It was of her and her boyfriend Jay. They had been together for a year and she loved him so much. But what he did to her, she'll never be able to forgive, or forget.

It was about three weeks ago and Paige and Jay had gone to their junior prom together. They were getting into the car and nobody was around. Jay cornered Paige.

"Hey baby, lets have some fun." He said to her. Paige knew he was slightly drunk.

"No, Jay. I want to go home. Come on lets go." She said forcefully as she pushed Jay away from her.

"Paige I wasn't asking you, I was giving you an order." He pushed his weight up against her and passionately kissed her.

"No Jay I said stop! Stop it!" She tried to push him away but it was no use. He was too strong for her.

He reached behind her and pulled the car door open. Jay threw Paige onto the back seat and shut the door. She tried to scream, but he had his hand over her mouth. Even if she did scream, there was no one around to hear her.

"Nobody can hear you Paige. Now just do what I say and it won't hurt a bit." He had an evil look in his eyes, a look that Paige had never seen before, a look that made her fear for her life.

Jay lifted up Paige's gown. She kicked and punched but no matter how hard she did both, he would just keep going. He roughly pushed himself into her and Paige let out a gut-wrenching scream. She was helpless, all she could do was lay there and let him have his way with her. For an hour she sat in the back seat of that car, hoping that it would all be over soon. She hoped that someone would come along and see what Jay was doing to her, but knew that nobody was around to hear her screams. After Jay was done with her, he pushed her out of the car.

"You're a worthless whore Paige." He said to as he threw her to the ground.

All Paige could do was lay there and hang her head in shame. How could she let him do this to her? How could she let him get away with it? Somehow or another, he wouldn't get away with it. She would find a way to get him for what he did, to prove that he was the one who did it. She just never thought a baby would be the proof she would get.

Jay got in his car and sped away, leaving Paige behind still on the ground. After the car was out of sight, she stood up. An awful pain traveled through her body and she knew what it was from. She had to get home, but she couldn't let her parents see her. She began to walk. Home was only a few blocks away and she could easily get there within 10 minutes.

As she neared the house, she thought of a way to get in without her parents seeing her. She decided to go through the back door. Her parents always kept it unlocked, as dangerous as it sounded. She approached the back door and gripped the handle. It was cold and sent a shiver down her spine. She turned the knob and the door let out a slight creek. She peered into the house. Her father was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper and her mother was working on her needlepoint. Paige silently crept through the door and into the kitchen. She managed to make it to the steps and up into her bedroom.

She closed her door very slowly and tip toed across the room. The reason for that being that Paige's house is very old and every step you take, the floor creeks. She made her way to the long mirror she had in her room. Bloodstains were all over her once beautiful peach colored dress. She disgustedly looked herself up and down and removed the gown she had grown to hate in only a short amount of time. She placed it back in the plastic encasing it came with and laid it on her bed. She changed into her pajamas and got into bed. She desperately wanted to take a shower, to clean her filthy feeling body, but she couldn't. Not without her parents seeing her. Paige decided to wait until her parents went to bed to act like she was just getting home.

A half an hour later she heard her parents coming up the steps and enter their bedroom. She wasn't due home for another twenty minutes so she wasn't worried about her parents thinking she was late. Silently she crept to her door and opened it slightly. Her parent's door was cracked open just a little, but she could tell that the coast was clear. She went over to her closet and picked up her gown. Once again giving it a look of disgust, Paige made her way out into the hallway and down the stairs. She went through the kitchen and carefully opened the door. She slid out and went around to the back of the house where the trashcans were. She laid the gown on one of the open trashcans and opened the plastic that encased it. Pulling out the dress, she looked at the bloodstains that were on it. Paige rolled the gown into a ball and stuffed it under some old papers in the trashcan. She never wanted to see or hear about it again.

Paige made her way to the front of the house and opened the door.

"I'm home!" She screamed. Hoping that her parents would not come downstairs and see her in her pajamas.

"Did you have fun sweetie?" Her mother asked.

Paige cringed at what her mother said. If only she knew what had happened. Paige could feel herself get queasy as she thought about the events that occurred just a short while ago.

"Yeah mom I had a great time! I'm going to go to bed now. I'll see you tomorrow morning!" She screamed as she ran up the stairs and shut her door behind her. She flung herself on her bed and cried herself to sleep.

Thinking about that night made Paige grow even more upset. She hadn't talked to Jay since prom night, she didn't want to. He had told everyone that she had cheated on him and that's why they weren't talking. Paige knew the real reason why he was ignoring her, and she knew that he did too.

In a fit of anger she knocked the picture of her once loved and cherished boyfriend to the ground. Bits and pieces of glass flew across the floor and the picture slid underneath her bed. She reached over to the nightstand and picked up her phone. Dialing the number, she hoped that she didn't regret what she was about to do. The phone rang and a male voice on the other line answered.

"Hello?" The voice asked.

"Jay?"
