I am 29 years old (really, I am), and I have a career as an environmental chemist, but I hope to one day write screenplays.
I decided to write a LotR fic first because it is probably my favorite series of books ever. I love all of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. I think I read LotR for the first time when I was about 11, but I have re-read it many times since, and because of that I approach my writing from the standpoint of someone who knows those books and some of the history of Middle-earth. I absolutely adored Peter Jackson's movie version of FotR, and I can't wait to see the next two installments. I am glad the movies have gotten more people interested in reading the books. Unfortunately, I do not gear my writing toward those who have only seen the movie, but I think most could still enjoy the story.
My favorite characters have always been Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn. As long as I can remember I wanted to be an elf. Legolas was so cool because he was brave, always cool under pressure, agile, and the way he shoots those arrows!!! But if I had to be honest with myself I am more like Gimli - more emotional (I do have somewhat of a temper), impetuous, but with a heart of gold. Gimli would do anything for his friends, and so would I. By the way, I thought Orlando Bloom and Jonathon Rhys-Davies nailed the elf's and dwarf's characters - I can't wait for TT.
I have been reading some of the other fan fics and I would like to encourage anyone who loves the elf and dwarf as much as I do to read Thundera Tigers works. She is an incredible writer, and she really has a firm grasp on the two charaters. In particular I would recommend Land of Light and Shadows. It is absolutely fantastic.
Oh, I suppose this has nothing to do with me, but thanks to all of you have reviewed my story. It provides such encouragement to me when I'm struggling in a part. I do hope everyone enjoys this story as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
One last thing, remember when I said I would do anything for my friends - well that includes shameless plugs - if you like Harry Potter go and read She DoesMagic's story "In League with the Devil". The story is excellent - very suspenseful, just like J.K Rowling.
