In a nutshell, I'm a nerd (who happens to be a girl, le gasp) who happens to enjoy some good science ficiton. Currently, I'm working on my own story/novel thing and it's been in the works for several years. Right now I'm writing the fifth or so version and almost halfway done with the skeleton of the story.I'm hoping I can finish the skeleton byMay 2006 and actually start writing what, I hope, will be the final version. I'm not sure if I'll ever want to publish it (I tend to be very insecure about my work) but I definitely want to pursue a career that involves writing. Probably something like equine journalism.
I draw inspitation from many sources. Stories I read, movies I see, people around me and the world in general. I'll even admit Japanese anime has sparked an idea or two. I also tend to be somewhat of a nature girl and depend on my horses (who aren’t technically mine, but we’ll not discuss that), forests, plains, creeks and lakes for ideas when I hit a bump in the road. When I get some of my papers back from my creative writing class at the end of the semester, maybe I’ll put some of my more nature inspired writing up here.
I read a lot. Right now I’m reading about six books. I’ll probably finish one or two shortly and start about three more soon. It’s a vicious cycle you see- I can never stop reading. As for my favorites, I tend to read a lot of Anne McCaffery (The Lady and Dragonriders of Pern being my favorites), but Phillip Pullman, Marguerite Henry, Walter Farley, Joanna Campbell, Ray Bradbury, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Jean M. Auel (even though I’m not impressed with The Mammoth Hunters) occupy my bookshelf. I’m currently reading Robert Jordan and Morgan Llywelyn too. Once you pop, you just can’t stop I suppose.
