"O, speak again, bright angel! for thou art
As glorious to this night, being o'er my head
As is a winged messenger of heaven..."

~Romeo and Juliet, Act 2, Scene II

Hello, my lovely readers. My name is Emilie.

I created this account ages ago, and now, after finally realizing that I need to do something with my writing, I am beginning to post some poems.

I write free verse poetry for the most part. I don't know why, but for some strange reason I have trouble writing poetry that rhymes. My poetry is composed of my thoughts, and my thoughts tend to come without rhymes. Believe me, I've tried writing rhyming poetry, but it just ends up sounding like a third grader wrote it.

Perhaps I'll try again sometime... anyway, if you could be so kind as to read my poetry and review it, I usually return the favor if I can stand being on the computer long enough. I despise these hateful machines...

I revised my poem "Coversation with a Mourning Dove" so that it was shorter and fit the entry guidelines for a contest, and it was accepted into one of their recent anthologies. So I guess that means I'm officially published. Hoo. Ray.

I am no great writer, but I write to the best of my ability. If you read anything I've written, please review it! I'm not asking for praise, I'm asking for truth. If you like it, let me know. If you hate it, let me know in a respectful way. Believe me, I can handle constructive criticism/advice, but don't be a jerk.

So I guess I'll leave it at that, seeing as how I really have nothing else to say. I hope that if you read my poems you enjoy them.

Oh also, if you would like to talk to me on MSN Messenger, I'd love it, so add me! (madperceptualerror@) As previously mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of technology, but I'm online occasionally, like when hell freezes over, or I'm locked in a room with a computer and a troll that says he'll eat me if I don't go online, you know, common occurrences such as those.

Love, Emilie

Likes: Most grunge/punk/emo music, classic rock/blues, writing poems, debating with intelligent people, reading (fantasy novels, and you HAVE to read The Da Vinci Code), playing the clarinet/flute/bass, playing Bejeweled 2,enjoying the company of my good friends and one in particular(Mary Jane, if you know what I mean), my car (1982 Chevy Camaro), Chris Cornell without a shirt, a certain sophomore (emo) boy at my school who shall remain nameless, etc.

Dislikes: Teachers (*ahemMr.Schmidtmymathteacherahem*) who don't round grade percentages up!!!!!!, bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, MTV, Metal/"Goth" music, law enforcement in my town (one officer in particular, Tiffany, with whom I am on first name terms), my math teacher (as previously mentioned), people that make fun of emo kids (such as my metal head brother and my metal head ex-boyfriend), right-wing Christian conservatives, stubbing my toes, hitting my head on hard or otherwise damaging materials (which I tend to do a lot, like the time I opened the bathroom door hard on my left cheek at work... I mean, who else manages that? Seriously!), people that try to hard to be profound/dark/depressed, and people that think being suicidal/depressed is cool.

Something I would never admit in person: I rock out when I listen to the song "Gold Digger" by Kanye West, and I play with my gauge 2 earrings at work when I'm bored and then I forget to wash my hands (I work in a food place..haha!)
