Well hello there intrepid traveler. It seems you’ve stumbled across my page.

Welcome.

Name: Kira

Age: Never ask a lady her age.

Location: How should I know, ask MapQuest.

A Little Information: . I am a college student so there will be VERY sporadic updates. Sorry.

About the Poems: They are rarely autobiographical. I tend to stray from topic to topic and genre to genre. What can I say, it works. Recently my poems have taken a turn from the humorous to the angst ridden, I blame the lack of caffeine that I’ve given access to.

Quotes:

Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory.

--Mahatma Gandhi

You should know who you are and know that it's enough. Because who you are is special

There are secrets that we still have left to find
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time
There are answers we're not wise enough to see

All idealization makes life poorer. To beautify it is to take away its character of complexity - it is to destroy it.

~ Joseph Conrad in The Secret Agent (born 3 December 1857)

The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness.

.~ Joseph Conrad born December 3, 1857)

The actual tragedies of life bear no relation to one's preconceived ideas. In the events, one is always bewildered by their simplicity, their grandeur of design, and by that element of the bizarre, which seems inherent in them

- Jean Cocteau

“You build up all these defenses. You build up this whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you. Then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life…”

Rose Walker

“Please, don’t tell me that you’re starting that ‘Random Fact of the Day’ thing again, You have my word that if I am ever in dire need of completely useless information you will be the first person I contact.”

Heroes

Claude: This your place?
Peter: Yeah.
Claude: A guy with family connections like yours could do a lot better.
Peter: I left the family business. I'm a nurse now.
Claude: A nurse who's an empath. Very cute.
Peter: Empath? What's that mean?
Claude: It means you're a pain in my ass, Mate.

(Mr. Muggles is barking)
Ted: I've had enough of that.
(Ted picks up Mr. Muggles)
Matt: Don't!
Ted: I'm not going to nuke the dog!

HRG: Claire Bear, talk to me.
Claire: Try these on. (Pushes horned-rimmed glasses toward him.)
HRG:(tries them on) How do I look?
Claire: Like my dad.

Linderman: You see, I think there comes a time when a man has to ask himself whether he wants a life of happiness or a life of meaning.
Nathan: I'd like to have both.
Linderman: Can't be done. Two very different paths. I mean, to be truly happy, a man must live absolutely in the present and with no thought with what's gone on before, and no thought of what lies ahead. But a life of meaning, a man is condemned to wallow in the past and obsess about the future. And my guess is that you've done quite a bit of obsessing about yours these last few days. (Nathan pulls out a gun) Now you can't have any of my pot pie.

A Very good Poem.

Ghazal

If I am the grass and you the breese, blow through me.
If I am the rose and you the bird, then woo me.

If you are the rhythme and I the refrain, don't hang
on my lips, come and I'll come too when you cue me.

If yours is the iron fist in the velvet glove
when the arrow flies, the heart is pierced, tattoo me.

If mine is the venomous tounge, the serptent's tail,
charmer, use your charm, weave a spell and subdue me.

If I am the laurel leaf in your crown, you are
the arms around my bark, arms that never knew me.

Oh would that I were bark! So old and still in leaf
And you, dropping in my shade, dew to bedew me!

What shape should I take to marry your own, have you
-hawk to my shadow, moth to my flame - pursue me?

If I rise in the east as you die in the west,
die for my sake, my love, every night renew me?

If, when it ends. we are just good freinds, be my Friend,
muse, lover and guide, Shamsuddin to my Rumi.

Be heaven and earth to me and I'll be twice the me
I am, if only half the world you are to me.

Mimi Khalvati
