My Stories 42
My Montreal Meanderings
In the last few months I've been exposed to the poetry of men who go by their first two initials followed by their last names: A.M. Klein and W.H. Auden, both of whom I've come to admire in no small amount. This poem is in some ways dedicated to them.
Poetry: Life, K+, English, Hurt/Comfort, words: 302, 4/21/2009
Gallagher in Space
This is one from my latest Prose class, and was quite wellreceived to boot! My first actual scifi story. A private detective working on a space station is hired to find a fella named Roust. Aliens, punches, a little green man and the void of space ensue.
Fiction: Sci-Fi, M, English, Adventure & Sci-Fi, words: 10k+, 10/3/2007
The Day the World Got Bigger
This is a submission for my Creative Nonfiction class. Yes, that's a bit of an oxymoron. This took place in my kindergarten years, when I was just learning about the world and depending on grownups.
Fiction: Essay, K+, English, words: 1k+, 2/26/2007
2Old Click Richards
Another one from the old prose class! Each person in the class had to come up with a characteristic of one collectively-created guy, and then write a short piece about him. This one's mine.
Fiction: Western, T, English, Tragedy & Drama, words: 1k+, 4/26/2006
2Nightghast
A recent story from my prose class here in Concordia U, set in my native Malaysia. I suppose I was attempting to depict a rather old-fashioned, traditional mindset... and got a little carried away. Have fun!
Fiction: Horror, T, English, Horror & Suspense, words: 2k+, 4/18/2006
2Mr NoOne
I'd been playing with the idea for this poem for about a year before I finally settled on a version that I felt reasonably did the job. I'd tell you all about what it means... but that would spoil the fun, don't you think?
Poetry: Religion, M, English, Angst & Drama, words: 320, 10/11/2005
2World Meets World
The assignment here was to go somewhere public and listen to snippets of other people's conversations. Some people say the strangest things. A hundred hug-bucks to whomever can tell me what about this I didn't make up.
Fiction: General, T, English, Angst & Humor, words: 1k+, favs: 1, 3/1/2005
4The Greyer Lives
(Updated) Changed my mind. It's not so grim after all. Written at 4am on a late Toronto February, when there's a lot of grey dreariness going on. Currently Fictionpress is being VERY irritating and not letting me divide it into stanzas.
Poetry: Life, K, English, Angst & Drama, words: 80, 2/26/2005
3The Name Game
Here's one from my Creative Writing class here at Ryerson University. The assignment was to write a scene in which two characters want something from each other, and go through the methods of obtaining it. Here's the result of two nights and a subway ride
Fiction: General, K+, English, Humor & Angst, words: 1k+, 2/22/2005
3My Beastly Heart
What keeps us from the blissful release of unwaking sleep? Why, our ever-driving desires! Inspired after watching Nightmare Before Christmas one too many times. Man that flick is awesome.
Poetry: Love, T, English, Angst & Poetry, words: 193, 2/19/2005
12That Song Again
In mind of 'Iris' by Goo Goo Dolls. The near-impossible task of trying to let go of love and look to new sunrises.
Poetry: Love, K, English, Angst & Romance, words: 243, favs: 2, 6/24/2004
10The Flower And Her Pot
Quite obviously titled with no reference to narcotics in mind. Dedicated to the parents, may you treat your children like people. And dedicated to the kids, may you get the nurturing you deserve.
Poetry: Life, K, English, Angst & Spiritual, words: 127, favs: 2, 4/6/2004
9Rebirth
Do you know how difficult it was to classify this piece? First draft, this one, but I felt I should upload it while it's still warm. A girl meets a writer at a bar and learns a little bit about the human fascination with destruction and the dark unknown.
Fiction: General, K+, English, Suspense & Angst, words: 2k+, favs: 3, 2/16/2004
6Why
Why indeed? To anyone who has ever been fed up with being pushed around.
Poetry: Work, K+, English, Angst & Tragedy, words: 158, 10/14/2003
8We Are The Stars Now
I remember hearing someone saying, "I wish they wouldn't kiss in public... at least, not while I don't have a boyfriend." Got me thinking. For Izzy J, who, coincidentally, is a fantastic girl.
Poetry: Love, K, English, Romance & Angst, words: 148, 10/14/2003
4Watch This
I've been told this one's a bit cute. Humbug, I say, humbug! For Izzy J.
Poetry: Love, K, English, Romance, words: 115, 10/14/2003
5Spring Rose
Helping people is second nature for a lot of us. Appreciation and love is rather less common and a lot more precious. Like-a some kinda gold thingie.
