Being a writer is a lot harder than one would think--you have thousands of voices, of characters, screaming inside your head. They all want a chance to be down on paper: to amuse, entertain or frighten the world. But you have to choose. Some voices aren't developed enough yet; some have a great deal to say, but none of it is important. When you can distinguish between these characters, when you can tune into just one or two characters who were probably waiting patiently the whole time, then you can write. Then you are a writer.
