I am a devoted wife and mother of four small children. I don't have much free time, but when I do, I enjoy reading and writing fiction. I am a huge Jane Austen fan, so, after reading her books for the billionth time, I tend to write very formal. My all-time favorite series is the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I honestly have no hope to write as well as he, but after reading a good fantasy, my descriptions tend to get more detailed. Unfortunately, I will also get writer's block after reading one of his books as my insecurities rise to the surface. So if I am in the mood to write, I stay away from him.

As for others' writing, I am not a stickler for grammar and correct punctuation--although if it is overtly awful, my obsessive compulsiveness will stop me from enjoying it. Instead, what I enjoy most about a good novel, is a good storyteller. Don't bog me down in descriptions of every flower on the hillside--give me some action! I have been known to skip descriptions to search for conversations and thoughts. And I'm a sucker for a good romance. There are those that have a great knack for getting me drawn into their story and when that happens, I will read without fail until it is finished--even if the writing is not the best. I am trying hard to learn that secret.

I really like reviews... I mean, I REALLY like reviews. Just a simple, "I'm reading this chapter" at least lets me know you are out there. And hey, for all you shy folk, you can even submit them anonymously...I don't care.

My favorite writing quote of all time:

"People who use profanity to make their point are just too lazy to find a better adjective."

-my dad (although he was just speaking of life in general)

About my stories:

Sovereign:

FP Summary:

Jeremy had a mysterious past; Sovryn simply wanted to know what it was. Brought into a world where red hair is a death sentence--and she is number one on the list--Sovryn must summon the courage to fight. Only she can save the Kenets from genocide.

Extended Summary...

After losing her husband in a freak accident, Sovryn is approached by a man who claims to know secrets to her husband's past. Soon she finds herself in a strange new land surrounded by people who are depending on her to save their kingdom--with hidden talents as her weapons and a "child" as her guide. Full of all the fun stuff--romance, sword fighting, humor, a strong heroine, and an evil Sovereign.

Update:

Please don’t kill me, but I have removed most of this story from fiction press. I am selfishly keeping the prologue for this and for my next novel, Regent, on here simply because the reviews have meant a lot to me. (I will upload Regent on here once I am about halfway through writing it because frankly reviews keep me going :-D).

I originally wrote this story to give to my father who always wanted me to be an author. My purpose for putting this on here was to get feedback in the editing process because this was my very first venture into creative writing outside of a classroom setting. Since the story is complete and I am no longer getting reviews, I am removing it. I do not have grand illusions of becoming a famous author, however I will be self-publishing this piece to give to my dad and since I have to put it out there anyway I might as well get paid for it if someone actually does want to read it.

Field of Vision: (I can't help it, I love my title!)

Basic summary:

Having been born blind and sensitive to light in a technologically advanced solar society, Elanie was forced to spend her entire life underground until chosen for an experimental injection that gave her sight...and other "gifts". Deemed dangerous and thrown into exile, she excepts her fate until she uncovers a plot to destroy her friends. Now she must seek the help of the enemy--those who had caused her blindness originally--and examine all that she holds to be true. She once was blind, but now she sees...all too clearly.

This also has a lot of the fun stuff - romance, adventure, "magic" (although not really--more like X-Men stuff...).

Exiled. The word did not frighten Elanie as it should. After all, she had been in exile the majority of her existence. Nevertheless, she would make it back. Somehow, she had to save those whose lives had long ago been discarded—even if death is the cost.

This one is truly a work in progress...what you see on here is all I have done so far. But I like to update and I know where this story is going so it should not take me too long...we'll see! :-D

UPDATE: This one is temporarily on hold while I finish Sovereign. I really like this story and I promise I will finish it, but it was too difficult for me to stay in the right mindset while working on both at the same time. Besides...I have very little free time! :-D

Fan Fiction

Okay...so I got a bit of writer's block and made my way over to fan fiction for a little "light" reading...although, I must say many of those authors on there are excellent! Just for fun I wrote a little Fan Fiction. I debated putting it on my profile, but I thought, "why not? Chances are few people actually read all the way to here anyway..." So, if you want to dabble a bit in fan fiction, here is a little fic I wrote for Labyrinth (my guilty pleasure). Within You

I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has either favorited one of my stories, or me as an author. THANK YOU!! It truly is an honor! (If I missed you, please let me know...I don't want to forget anyone! :-D)
