I was born at a very young age... But I'm sure you all knew that, anyway. How about I skip ahead some?

I am your average human being, as long as there is no such thing. Until such a time as a normal human being is found, I will continue to call myself such. When that happens, you can contact me through my "people" on their office on Rigel 7, Orion Sector 3. They will tell you that you will never find me: I will find you.

I remember a time when I used to read--all the time. I'd get dressed reading, eat tea and breakfast reading, read during the boring bits in class (I got in trouble over that more than once). Writing, too, was a constant occupation--on the bus, in form class, during lunch... People had to tell me to take my nose or pencil out of whatever I was doing and pay attention to the world once in a while.

I've been writing stuff--not all of it good, mark you--since I was about eight. The first thing I ever wrote was a stupid piece about two kids in a haunted forest. I told people at school all about it, told them snippets of the work I hadn't even written yet. Then, when I actually wrote it, I hated it so much and buried it in a drawer. (I have been brave, and actually put it up here, under the really bad name "Scary Woods".)

Since then, my style has improved somewhat. I tried poetry, and found it wasn't really for me. I took up reading sci-fi and fantasy avidly--Isaac Asimov and Terry Pratchett are my two favourite authors--and began to write similar things. I hope to post some of my works over the next few weeks.

Aside: Did I ever mention that I like LEGO? I do, in case you're wondering. I just love the possibilities that LEGO presents - and, at any rate, it looks good sitting on the shelf. Be careful, though, if you have LEGO: it's really quite amazing just how distracting those little, mindless bits of plastic can be. Try not to study with them within sight, or reach, that's all I can say.

I am working on a novel at present, a sort-of Tolkien/Harry Potter cross with wizards--good and "evil" both--and a magic book. "Elber of Torou" is a character from that. The novel is going up, chapter by chapter, under the name "Guardians of the Citadel". I want advice, feedback, and constructive criticism of my work. In return, obviously, I'll be R&R'ing plenty of others' works, doing the same for them.

Watch out specifically for my sci-fi works, all set in an extended future history. It should be interesting to follow my characters across the ages. The first one (now online) is "The Millennium War".

Stories in this Future History:
Justice
The Millennium War (and Supernova System, the original version)
Et tu, Brute

Stories set in the Seven Realms (fictional universe):
Guardians of the Citadel
Zorlock
They
The Wicked Knife
Wraith
Tristan and the Sea
Pawn of the Prophetess
Curiosity's Reward

I do betareading for Fantasy and Science-Fiction as well. I apologize if my reviews seem a little (or a lot) caustic. But I don't mean to offend. I just want to help people to write better, to raise the bar just that little bit more. We must strive for excellence.

My muse calls. As a parting gift, here are some motivational quotes:

"Writing is rewriting." --Hemingway

"Imagination is more important that knowledge." --Albert Einstein

"Do or do not. There is no try." --Yoda

"Never give up. Never surrender." --Commander Taggart

"Finish each day and be done with it... you have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it well and serenely." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

"People believe they want justice and wise government but, in fact, what they really want is an assurance that tomorrow will be very much like today." --Lord Havelock Vetinari

"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." --Edmund Burke

"My formula for success is rise early, work late, and strike oil." --Paul Getty

"The truth is that parents are not really interested in justice. They just want quiet." --Bill Cosby

"Stupidity got us into this mess, then why can't it get us out?" --Will Rogers

"Come to the Dark Side--we have cookies." --probably not Darth Vader

"Never argue with an idiot: they'll drag you down to their level, and then beat you through experience." --Anon

"You cry, I cry. You laugh, I laugh. You jump off a cliff, I laugh even harder." --Anon

"I was normal once. But then I watched Doctor Who." --Anon

(And no, Anon is not an actual person, no matter how prolific he/she appears to be with regard to quotes.)
