I'm a fantasy/scifi geek with a grammar compulsion and a hungry e-paper reader waiting for more material to inject into my brain.
I'm mostly just a reader-reviewer here, but can't completely resist the temptation to post some of my "fragment stories". Their start and end tend to be strangely timed, and I cannot really say why I have such a compulsion to write just that section but then walk away (or run, is more like it). Most of them are based on dreams I've had. I don't have much in the way of artistic ambitions, so the fragments flow every which way.
Returning Reviews: There's a community called "We Return Reviews" on FP, whose members promise to return any reviews within a week. While I can't promise any fixed schedules myself (I refill my reader circa biweekly at the moment), I do follow the principle that if someone goes through the trouble of leaving a review (or a favourites tag, since that's also rather encouraging feedback) for my stuff, I'm glad to review something back. It's another way of finding new stuff to read, after all, and I review pretty much everything I read.
Exchanging Reviews/Beta work through the Community Exchange System: If you need in-depth reviews or Beta work, and have (or want to set up) a CES account, we can set up a trade, my hours for your hours. Basically, this system allows people to balance favours (time spent) around the world so that e.g. I can beta your stories, you can help out the elderly (or whatever suits you), they can read books to kids etc., and in the end it all balances out. You don't need to "work in" hours before spending them, there is no interest or other punishment for spending hours before you've "earned" them like there is with money. So don't hesitate to ask!
The stories so far:
"Lifelike art": After reading L.E.Holmes's Color, I was reminded of an old dream that turned into a story. That's how "Lifelike art" ended up here, and my story posting began.
"Magic are people too" (sic). Another dream about the nature of magic produced this story. The original title was "Dreams are people too" because the narrator was clearly thinking of herself as a dream when I was dreaming the story, but I wasn't too happy disclaimering it in the summary. If you remotely like this, you want to go read Stego-friggin-saurus's Reverse Reflection next.
"Putting On My Otter Shirt" was definitely a fun dream, involving animal-human shapeshifters. I added a touch of internal consistency to it, but alas, I couldn't carry a lengthy plot if my life depended on it, so it took another dream, documented in a prequel titled "What Really Happened", to introduce a plot driver heavy enough to carry a multi-chapter travel story. "Sweet Little Things" is another talking animals story fragment; they all seem to loosely stem from spending lots of time as a shapeshifter on Ancient Anguish, but don't tie into to the AA world and mythos (for more about AA, see below). It may continue either at some point, faster if someone needs me to.
"So much in love" and "A Draco's Tale" are from my sixth form days, German and English homework respectively. They differ from my standard in that they've actually been thought out instead of just noted down. Two other writers of short mind twisters that I've found here are Richard Lynch and Lithium of Mercy, check out their stuff if you like these sorts of things.
"Venom" is an innocent puppy love story that involves judo dominance. "A Rise to Power" has a superhero who does not demonstrate any observable powers, but you know, we know she's a superhero because she says so. Special non-special powers theme day for the win!
I also have a sibling account at Fanfiction.net, where I've posted a Hinata-Neji standoff and a fluffy Kakashi-Tenten-Neji triangle (Naruto) - this one seems surprisingly popular, even - and a rogue story and a mage romance situated in Ancient Anguish, a multi-user dungeon game of the medieval fantasy sort. They are also of a somewhat more thought out type of stories, as my stuff goes. Click on my 'homepage' link to get there.
