My real name is Karen and I'm currently in my 3rd Year at university studying a BA (hons) in 'English with Creative Writing'.
This basically involves a tiny bit of English Literature, lots of English Language and a portion of Creative Writing (short stories, travel writing, editing and of course, poetry.) This course rocks because I only do3 hours a week (which leaves a lot of room for much needed sleeping / drinking time) and it's also something that I love to do.
I didn't really like poetry much until I started univeristy (I was always a big story fan instead.) but I grew to like it. My favourite poets are Emily Dickinson, Stephen Dunn and Simon Armitage. I love to read also, and despite my age, I still very much love trashy teen novels. I love 'The Princess Diaries' series by Meg Cabot, the 'Night World' series by L.J Smith and the 'Fearless' series by Francine Pascal. One of my favourite author's (apart from L.J Smith and David Gemmel) is Victor Hugo. I enjoyed reading his novel, 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame - I just love the adventure and darkness it has to it. I also like his book 'Les Miserables'. However, my favourite three books of all time are 'Out of the Darkness' by Nigel Hinton, 'Escape' by June Oldham and 'Last Chance' by Sarah Dessen.
Hmmm, bands that I like are those that most people hate, lol, I love cheesy pop and rock music and I'm proud of it! Other artists / bands I like include Avril Lavigne, Busted, The Libertines, Greenday, Bon Jovi, Everclear, Meatloaf, Lene Marlin, The Corrs, McFly and Katie Melua. However, my most favourite aritst of all time has to be Jewel. I love her lyrics and poems and her songs are beautiful.
Finally, I am a big Final Fantasy fan, especially Final Fantasy 8. Selphie is groovy (lol, you know she is!) Plus I love the TV series of 'The Tribe', 'Coupling' and 'Spaced' - 'Spaced' seriously rocks!!! My favourite film is 'Anastasia' (the animated one where Meg Ryan does the voice of Anya.) People may think it's childish to have an animated film as your favourite film of all time, but I honestly love it.
Anyhoo, feel free to read and comment on any poems that you think deserve it. Criticism is welcome, I'm always looking for ways to improve my work. Um, rock on!
